Barnes Mansion featured on new NYS Underground Railroad Map

ErieCanalwayLogoThe Barnes Hiscock Mansion is featured on a newly released online interactive New York State Underground Railroad (UGRR) Map.

The map highlights UGRR and Abolitionist sites, programs and tours that are publically accessible and approved by the National Park Service Network to Freedom Program or the New York State Underground Railroad Heritage Trail.

If you happen to be finding out about the Barnes Mansion for the first time by way of this new map, we’d like to let you know (and to remind our returning visitors, too) that tours are available! Just call (315) 422-2445 to set up an appointment.

The New York State UGRR Map is a collaborative project initiated by the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, in partnership with I Love New York and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

Note: The Barnes Hiscock Mansion earned National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom designation from the National Park Service in 2010.  This is the gold standard for museums, programs and resources related to the interpretation and promotion of the Underground Railroad.
